Meat Department not wearing gloves | Publix in Pompano Beach, Florida

A meat employee handled my chop meat without wearing gloves. I told him I am not accepting the meat. I instructed him to put gloves on and then package chop meat. There is a lot of hepatitis A going around in Florida. I surprised that Greenwise/Publix should be knowledgeable about the spread of this disease. The employee has Hepatistis A, touching the meat with his bare hands and packages meat. Then you buy the chop meat, steaks, chicken, etc from food that has already been contaminated with Hepititis A. Then you contact the Hepititis virus. They should improve their policy to protect their customers.

The workers should have mandatory wearing of gloves when handling any kind of meat or poultry.

This is a complaint website. It is not for free advertising, apple polishing, or promotional purposes. We only care if you bought rotten meat or the guy was a problem of some sort.

Special occasion and You're buying a nice cut of beef or rack of lamb and what do you find? Meat with excess fat that you're paying top dollar for fat. The manager claims that's how they make a profit. Hello! When a special cut of meat goes on sale what does the meat manager do? Adds more fat on the cut. A spokesman for Public meat department assured me he would take care of the matter. Low and below he did and took care of the matter a week later. The issue is Public standards are an eighth of an inch of fat is all Public policy is. NOT to make a PROFIT this way. I commend Public for this! Will someone tell the meat managers this. I've shopped at Publix's all over Fl., Ga., and S.C. And never had such a problem as the store in Marathon Fl.. Make the meat management accountable for their policies. If you see the quality of the meat in your store, call corporate. Don't pay 17.99 a lb. for fat.

I just had this experience as I had 4 ponds of TOP SIRLOIN ground for the chili I’m making for Church Pot Luck Dinner because I already do NOT trust WHATS in their packages of “ ground beef”. But what difference does it really make I’m wondering!??!

Hasn’t anyone heard the saying:” Just because you CAN doesn’t mean you SHOULD!” Common sense appears to be used at Publix about the same way their Public Health Concerns are be applied! When I approached the store manager about my concerns I was told it’s a SAFETY ISSUE for the employees who might get their gloves “ caught up in the machinery “.

Perhaps hiring competent butchers could possibly help AND protect the customers paying for the privilege of potentially being contaminated!?! I mean SERIOUSLY !!!!?!
