Publix - Employee treatment.
I have worked for the company for a few years. At first I loved it, but my costumer service manager at the time was a sexual harasser, he would ask way too personal questions or touch you, when he did that to me I drew the line backed up and sternly said "Sorry, I do not play like that." and he got the message and left me alone, and I would avoid him. He changed my hours from 30+ to 13 and less since that day. I thought it was in my head, until he got transferred because of this reason, and eventually had a lawsuit against him, and got fired since other female employers spoke out and called corporate.
Generally publix has been good to me, because I work hard and I've enver had any problems. Recently Publix has started to treat it's employers so badly it scares me.
Today, I had enough of it. There is a really hard working woman on my store, she has worked on my store for 4 years, and always had stellar reviews, her English skills are not perfect but she is taking classes and has no problem understanding it or responding. Costumers adore her, and you always see her working. At closing time we were all working together on the same aisle , some were just talking and fooling around, and she was leveling the aisle, focused on her task. The ***. Store Manager called her in front of all of us and told her to leave, even if she was scheduled to leave much later. (With all of us) He refused to let her keep working, she stated that she had not completed her hours and asked why was she the only one getting sent home early when there were others just fooling around. The ***. Manager answered that "There is no more work for you today, you are done, so just go. You are Hispanic you must get welfare and food stamps anyway, you don't need money" He said this to her in front of all of us closing and in front of a camera, (she doesn't get any government benefits btw ). When we went to speak to our Store Manager he told us that our ***. Store Manager "just has something against her, so there was nothing he could do" She has worked on that store for more than 4 years, always has a pleasant attitude and always comes to work when called in to replace someone. It really seemed unfair, that such things just go unpunished.
Our. Costumer Service Assistant manager, was changing the schedules today and messed up making someone work on a day she was not available, so she just called another employee who had some days unavailable because of college classes and she told him he HAD TO replace that employee and work her hours because "the store manager wants you to do this, if you do not it just means you do not need the hours so we will just give you less hours next week". After hanging up she laughed with another associate at the employee and how he had believed that lie and accepted and was scared for his job.
Last week, one of our baggers who recently stopped being a minor endedp up in the hospital due to food poisoning. His sister called in and told our manager that he was inside the Doctor's and that he was very weak and throwing up all day so he could not come in. Our manager responded that she did not believe it , that he had to come and bring her a medical excuse today or she would suspend him for a week and cut his hours. To our surprised, he came in wearing his hospital robe, the tag in his arm from the hospital, the papers of him being admitted and an excuse from his doctor. His mother also went with him and our manager was speechless. She cut his hours anyway the next week and gave him 10hrs, even if he was available to work any day/time.
Reading through this threads I found the numbers for corporate... I could go on and on...
We have gathered enough proof and we already got a lawyer into the case. The amount on proof unfair practices is HUGE.
Please do not let your store or situation turn into the one at my store... people get harassed even inside the store by managers, threating them to stay quiet or be prepared to lose hours and health benefits...
We got a store visit from upper Publix managers, they gave us all this number (863) 688-**** to call and explain the abuses at our store.
Please speak up, this does not happen in all stores, but it happens in some and very often! If it does not happen to you I'm glad, but if it does PLEASE call corporate, we lack an Union so we have to help each other, the number is anonymous and you can call on English/Spanish and Creole.

There are great employees on Publix, but some forgot the Publix credo.
Publix-----insect infested pasta
Eight hours after purchasing a package of pasta from Publix, I noticed that it was infested with weevils. I returned to the store two days later and took a package of the identical pasta from the shelf and showed the manager that this package as well as their entire display of pasta was covered with insects.
He apologized and thanked me for bringing it to their attention. That was all he did. He did not ask for my name so that Publix could formally write me a letter of apology. He did not even offer to credit me for the purchase.
I then contacted Publix through their website and explained the incident. After receiving no reply, I contacted them again.
Both times, they acknowledge receipt of my comments but after 9 days, I have still not received any response from Publix.

Charging for an item without a tag or even from their store
Yesterday (July 23rd), I ran into a Publix Market in Delray Beach Florida to purchase 8 items. Incidently this is a Publix store I commonly refer to as "Getto Publix" because it's always dirty, sells expired food and the staff are nasty WHEN or IF they answer or speak to you.
So after I completed my purchase I came home and since my family is a Nielsen family (i.e. similar to the Nielsen TV ratings only we have a hand held scanner that records every shopping purchase and then we answer questions on line in surveys) I began to review my receipt to record my purchase. At the bottom of my receipt I see a charge for .99 that says just "grocery" next to it. It was a 9th charge and as I said I went for 8 items and as far as I knew ONLY purchased 8 items.
I began matching my items and found I did indeed NOT purchase a 9th item. I called the store who told me I needed to bring everything back to get a refund. Now I had amongst my purchases, Milk. LIVE CLAMS, and Ice Cream!
So, I went back to the store (6.7 miles away) to get this resolved. Well, come to find out the cashier charged me for MY OWN recycle bag that was (get this) PRINTED WITH THE NAME WALGREENS ON IT! So not only did she NOT take a tag off, scan the item or even see it, she just arbitrarily chose to charge me for it. And what really topped it off is after I started thinking about it, since I never put it on the belt for her to scan, never handed it to her, and there was no tag...
she OBVIOUSLY thought I was trying to steal it. FIRST of all it a was a bright green and they don't offer ANYTHING that looks like that and 2nd she could have ASKED. But you know, asking would be TOO much like customer service. Unfortunately, I would like to say this little .99 problem is the only problem I have ever had with Publix but it isn't.
Every time I go I have to check the prices, check my receipt and check my change. Also on the trip I purchased a 1/4 lb of white american cheese that was $4.29 a pound. I got home with 1/4 pound of cheese that was marked "Low Sodium Muenster cheese" that was $5.99 a pound!
It WAS my white American but I got charged $5.99 a pound. To top it off at the bottom of the receipt it said "We saved you $1.06 today" IT SHOULD HAVE SAID "WE STOLE $1.48 FROM YOU TODAY!
PUBLIX SUPERMARKETS ARE THIEFS AND I DON'T THINK THESE ARE ERRORS!
Being Towed before shopping at our local Publix
Today my wife and I did our usuall routine. We went over to Treasure Island Publix and parked out side on the corner.
We always bring our 2 greyhounds with us and take them across the street for a quick bathroom break. Then we go inside Publix to buy Sunday dinner. It takes no more than 10-15 minutes for the dogs to finish. When we turned around headed back to our car it was pulled out across the street by a towing company (Prestage Towing).
The driver must have pounced on our car as soon as he saw us go acroos the street. I asked the tow driver to please stop and he said if I had $50.00 cash and could preduce it in 5 minutes he would stop. I ran inside Publix and spoke with the general manager. She told me they paged my license # on the loud speaker and when no one responded she ordered the tow.
I explained we shop there almost every sunday and bring the dogs for over 3 years. I asked her if she could help because I didn't have the $50.00 cash plus we had the dogs. She would not. Our car was towed with all my keys and the water for the dogs.
We were so upset we forgot everything in the car. We were stranded for over a half an hour getting a ride and then paying $155.00 to get our car out of the towing yard. We noticed the tow driver hiding behind a large bush embankment waiting for people like us with dogs to go across to the park. He calls the manager and tells her there is a car he has been watching for awhile what should he do?
They know were not in the store but they go through the protocall by calling out the license # to cover them selves. Again, we were outside tops 15 minutes and our car was already on the tow truck which means Prestege Towing jumped on it and the Publix manager would not listen to "great customers" at all. What a horrible experience.
Can you help us by telling our story? Michael & Sharon Karahalis 727-415-**** (Bay News Nine On Your Sida)
Publix cooked dinner
We ordered a Publix turkey and ham dinner with several sides two days in advance and called before going to the store. When it was picked up, it was supposed to be fully cooked.
Everything was frozen, including the turkey, which had to be defrosted in a microwave. We had planned on having it ready for friends coming directly from work but it took well over two hours of cooking before everything was ready to serve. When something is advertised as fully cooked, you don't expect to have to defrost it first.
Publix should advertise their dinners as frozen pre-cooked dinners and save people a lot of aggravation and dissatisfaction. Never again.
Feel bad for the people who work at publix, especially in IT where they are bullied
Since the CIO took over about 5 yrs ago she has single handily forced most people to quit through intimidation, lying and plain bullying with her minions she brought with her. Long term good hard working employees who loved their company are left crying, without jobs or now working under such horrible circumstances in fear for their jobs .
This pattern it apparent across the entire IT organization. I wonder who at Publix HR notices that once stellar employees are now poor performers and why they are not doing anything about it? I wonder why the CEO and President are looking the other way.
It is certainly not in the best interest of the company and a liability.
Shopping at publix? no no no!

Publix makes me angry
I work as customer service office staff at a publix in north Georgia. I bend over backwords for my employer and to ensure customers are leaving happy.
Unfortunately I am left with no choice but to question every customer complaint and potential refund due to the amount of *** artists that take advantage of the customer service industry. It seems to be that people take advantage of the idea that we can give you money for dissatisfaction essentially. My previous manager told me to refund at my own discression. My newest manager basically tells me to give everyone money no matter what.
Im sorry but you shoppers who think you can come in wearing sunglasses and or talking a million miles per hour without a receipt or item to speak of need to wise up and face reality. What you are doing is wrong and you are taking advantage of young and or underpaid employees. My current managers do absolutely nothing to discipline the employees or stick around enough to help support employees that are being taken advantage of. They just don't really care.
No matter how well or poorly you did on your last 6 month period you stay on their corporate payscale. I know one of the employees at my store even has a goatee the managers do not care. I once had managers that would sendemployees home if they didn't want to do teir work or had facial hair.
This is making it an unfair and unfriendly work place. I am not paid enough to close the store deal with angry customers and control the employees and their attitude and appearance.
MANAGER PROFILING CUSTOMERS WHO USE COUPONS
I HAVE A COMPLAINT ABOUT PUBLIX IN MARIETTA GA 30062. LAST NIGHT WHEN I WENT TO PUBLIX I WAS LOOKING FOR THE SPRING GATHERING BOOK OF COUPONS AND THE MANAGER THAT WAS AT THE CUSTOMER SERVICE DESK HANDED ME ONE OF THEM AND SAID THAT IS ALL THAT I CAN GET...WHEN I WENT BACK IN THERE TODAY FOR SOMETHING ELSE, SHE MOVED THE ENTIRE STACK OF COUPONS FROM THE DESK AND WAITED TIL I WAS ABOUT TO CHECK OUT BEFORE SHE PUT THEM BACK.
I MADE ANOTHER MANAGER AWARE OF THIS AND HE SEEMED TO AGREE WITH HER. HE SAID THAT THE COUPONS GO TOO FAST, ETC...AND IT WASNT UNTIL I SAID THAT I WAS GONNA CALL CORPORATE THAT HE EVEN ACKNOWLEDGED THAT SHE COULD HAVE DONE THIS DIFFERENTLY. I AM SO SICK OF THESE PEOPLE, BUT WITH COUPONS I CAN GET MY ITEMS FREE SO I AM NOT GONNA STOP GOING HERE.
I THINK THAT THEY NEED TO GET BETTER WITH CUSTOMER SERVICE. THIS SAME MANAGER IS MAD BECAUSE THEY HAD A COUPON FOR $2 OFF AN ITEM THAT WAS $1.07 AND I MADE 93CENT EACH ITEM THAT I GOT...BUT IT WAS THEIR COUPON, PRINTED IN THE GREEN FLYER...WHY GET MAD AND YOU ARE THE ONE WHO OFFERED THE DISCOUNT.?

Unfortunately, the store will only bring in what sells. Not what is going to be on the shelves forever and a day till it expires. All grocery stores are the same.
I am a rep from Frito lay. In Florida, we only carry the lightly salted lays.
We don't make any "no salt" chips at this time. My competition, Wise, makes a no salt chip.
Valor Chocolate comes from KeHe or Tree of Life Supplier, depending on the region. It is orderable through store personnel, so shame on management for not investigating why it has been out for so long.
Frito Lay Salt-Free chips, comes from Frito Lay Supplier. Again shame on management for not notifying the Frito Lay Rep that their is a want for this variety.
Frito Lay is only going to bring in what makes them the most money. If the sat-free chips don't sell well, they won't bring them in, but the manager can insist that Frito Lay brings it in.
